MAKERS AT THE MILL
I have produced 6 new images for this event. The inspiration for my work is grounded by the phrase “Tidal Mill”, and the manner in which nature has been harnessed to provide the means of milling; with the obvious connection between the moons gravitational influence which produces the ocean tides.
I have Intentionally taken familiar subjects in and around Lea Mouth and the Thames, and de-familiarised them by juxstaposing them against other relevant imagery in an attempt to make the ordinary appear extraordinary.
Makers at the Mill is a curated exhibition of nineteen established artist-makers taking place in the remarkable Grade1 listed House Mill, Bromley by Bow in London E3 for seven weeks this summer from July to September, raising money for charity.
• All participant makers and artists in Makers at the Mill will be exhibiting new pieces inspired by the House Mill, its history or environment alongside selections from their collections. All works will be for sale.
